Dr. von Rueden is an Elliott Associate Professor in Fine Arts at Hampden-Sydney College. Since 2014, she has teaches classes across the Music Area, including HSC Chorus, Choral Conducting, Music Fundamentals, Introduction to Classical Music, American Music History, Class Piano, Music and Social Change, and Music as Social Behavior In 2013-2014, she served as Adjunct Voice Faculty at the University of Richmond, and taught voice lessons at St. Catherine's School and with the Virginia Girls Choir. Previously, Dr. von Rueden taught musicianship and aural skills at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and directed with Women's Chorus and Men's Chorus.
At Hampden-Sydney College, Dr. von Rueden serves as the Director of the Hampden-Sydney Music Series. These concert series bring public music offerings to the campus each year. Recently performers include Dashon Burton, Hub New Music, Ronald Crutcher and Joanne Kong, and The Piedmont Singers of Central Virginia.
Dr. von Rueden has served as a Board Member for the National Collegiate Choral Organization and as an Adjudicator for the Virginia Music Educator's Association and Honor Choir Auditions and District Assessments.
