BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Helena von Rueden is an Elliott Associate Professor of Fine Arts and Director of the Choral Program at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. Founder/Director of The Piedmont Singers of Central Virginia, Dr. von Rueden directs the eight-voice professional ensemble in cities throughout the Piedmont region of Central Virginia.  She recently served as Co-Coordinator of the Choral Database with the Institute of Choral Diversity. 

 

Dr. von Rueden maintains an active solo vocal career, as well as a research program dedicated to group singing as a bridge to community building.
